Harry operated a barbershop on E. 12th Street in Oakland.  Most of the males of the Alfieris family had their haircuts in that shop which was filled with a heavy scent of hair oil and shaving cream.  Harry supported his family through this business.  Alice never worked outside the home.  But she was extremely active  in events and organizations within the Greek church community and enjoyed a rich social life.
